Have you ever had a passion to do something else? Did you ever have a dream you would be doing something else? If you could go back in time, knowing what you know now about what you do for a living, would you choose the same path? Or would you want to change course and do something that you have had a passion for longer than you can remember.
Hi everyone, my name is Sylvia and I truly believe and live by the motto . . .
THE SKY’S THE LIMIT
I’ll tell you why. There comes a time in one’s life where we crave change to keep our sanity. I have been in the workforce for over 20 years, sitting behind a desk and I wanted something more.
Photography has been a passion of mine since I was in my earlier teens. Back in the day, when I was growing up there was one designated photographer. Guess who it was?? Lol!! That’s ok. I didn’t complain. My dad was the occasional photographer, at first, but I took over that role eventually. When I got married, I bought more equipment – even a video camera.
I was not that serious about it but I was determined to capture the special moments in my children’s lives; their birth, their first smile, their first everything. I recorded everything I could and organized it so I could always go back and reminisce.
So, it wasn’t until I was asked by my employer to photograph an annual event that I began to put more serious thought into photography. Therefore, with a lot of research and countless tutorials later, I began my photography business.
At my age, I thought 2 teenage kids later that I was too old to try something new. I thought my time has come and gone when I got my education in the accounting field and that was it. But I refused to think that was it for me. I did wish that I had started a little earlier.
My wonderful husband set me straight a number of times, telling me who cares how old I am. I have a passion for something. He said to follow my dreams. The past is the past and I’m only looking onward into the future. And I am excited to see what the future holds for me. Hence, the name of my blog …
Sly’s the Limit
So, I am following my dreams. I put my heart into photography. Capturing special moments for first time parents as they cuddle with their newborn baby. There is nothing more precious than when you see the love in a mother or father’s eyes that they have for their baby. We need to treasure these moments in our lives for generations. I am so thrilled and honoured to be able to provide that for these parents.
I have many passions. And in the coming weeks, I want to share those with you. I will share with you who set me on this path of creativity and who gave me the strength to seize my goals. I want to share with you everything I can to encourage other women my age or coming to my age to never forget about their passion just because they reach a certain age.
If you have a passion to start something new or do something extra on the side, whether it’s a hobby or a different career start, you need to pursue it. Don’t ever think it’s too late for you. Don’t let age get in the way of your dreams. I want you to all know you can come here to share your thoughts with myself and others and it can be a place to encourage each other to keep moving forward. I’m hoping to hear from others who are thinking the same way I am.
Keep pursuing your passions
